Great news! According to the Chinese Birth Chart (mother’s age and the month of conception if you’ve never tried it)Β this baby is going to be a girl. Can I just say phew? I’ve been wondering what I would do with another boy, what a relief to know that I don’t have to worry about it. And for the record, the needle trick says this kid will be a girl as well.
Of course, on the flip side, I’ve been through this three times, and there are certain flags that I can’t help associating with boys and flags I can’t help associating with girls. Take the bagels and cream cheese, for instance. Harrison and Rex received a lot of their cellular makeup from Einsteins. We all know I’ve had the same problem with this child, and I didn’t want to get near a bagel with June.
And then there’s the leg hair. With June’s pregnancy, my leg hair got noticeably soft and girlie. With the boys, I became Amazon Woman of the Universe. I’m kind of leaning toward Amazon Woman these days (although part of my problem might be the fact that I haven’t shaved my legs in four weeks and I have to wear jeans under my dresses at church so the hairs don’t poke through my tights).
Let’s face it, I’m going to love this kid no matter what it is, I’ve been here before. There is no way in Hades I could do anything but be instantly in love with this child, boy or girl. But at the same time, I’d sure love to get rid of all these boy toys and just keep the girl stuff around. Another girl would be so convenient and cute, and there’s always the very, very slight chance I might actually get a child that looks something like me. I think I’d kind of like that. (If you’ve ever met my husband you’ve probably realized that our kids all look EXACTLY like him.)
And in case you’re all wondering, we won’t be finding out what this baby is until it takes it’s first breath of sterilized air. Isn’t waiting so much fun?
Yea! Suprise babys are the funnest! Did you find out with the others? I didn’t find out with either of mine, second time was much easier than the first. Hows the morning sickness coming along, hopefully you start feeling better soon.
I think you’re having a pony.
Congrats! I hadn’t heard (must have missed that post). I’m glad the boob fairy is treating you well too!
I think it’s great you’re waiting to find out…it’s hard, but so much fun!! Three boys and a girl is great, as would 2 boys, 2 girls…you’ve got it made. Congratulations!
Jen was the first one to tip me in on the leg hair thing. I hate to say it, but I think that is as good an indicator as an ultrasound! I was Amazon woman of the world with Colton and didn’t hardly pick up a razor with Kelsi. BTW, asked a friend who’s only had girls and she’s says she stops shaving all together when she’s pregnant.
However, we all know how things can flip on you. Connie swears Whitney was a boy…
In other news, HELLO! Have you looked at your baby pictures lately? June is Annie reincarnated. And how is it possible that both Harrison and Rex (who look nothing alike) both look like Jason? So weird, but true.
Sadly Kelly, she ACTS just like me, she WALKS just like me, she TALKS just like me, but the girl is the spitting image of her father. Seriously, more than either of her brothers, we should have named her Jasa. His baby pictures could be hers.
Well, oddly enough you and Jason also have similiar looks. I still stand by my observation until I see Jason’s baby pictures! π
Kristina, thanks for the laugh!
Annie, congrats!
Chinese Birth Chart was right for us the second time but wrong the first. Good luck! When are you due?
You are so good for wanting to wait. I lack the patience and discipline. The way I see it, Christmas only comes once a year. Any more surprises than that…and well I think I would implode. π
Besides, by knowing if it’s a boy or girl makes it easier for me to shop with a little less guilt. I can hit the clearance racks for the super cute baby clothes – that’s how I justify it anyway.
Ah Sheri, there are ALWAYS clearance racks.
Oh man can I relate to this post. When I was pregnant with Number Four I SO MUCH wanted another girl. Actually, I was kind of peeved I was pregnant in the first place (so soon after the other kids, anyway) so in my prayers I would say, “This better be a brown haired girl that looks like me and doesn’t already weigh 9 pounds or I’m going to be SOOOO MAD!” I’m sure the Lord felt super threatened by that. (Not to mention the humility not involved in praying like that…) But He was listening anyway, and I gave birth to a brown headed clone (and she only weighed 7 pounds which was practically a miracle.) So I don’t know if saying threatening prayers is such a good suggestion, but you might want to throw in a few hints while you’re kneeling.
How exciting for you all! I hope this test also occasioned eating some Chinese food.
I hope you get your girl…but I most likely think it’s a boy now:)
I’m betting on a boy – just because you want a girl – life is mean that way!
For what it’s worth, I have a way lucky star. So far they’ve come as ordered. Which is probably the main reason this will be a boy.
Well done on waiting to find out. We did that with our 3rd one and it was the FUNNEST!!
Ya, I’d like another girl, too.
I have never heard of the Chinese Birth Chart. I am 10 weeks pregnant and if it is true, I will be having a girl too! I have one of each and we never find out what we are having so we will have to wait and see.
Good luck to you…
I had a friend once who could “spot on” tell the gender of anyone’s baby. When I told her the doctor said one of my twins was a girl, she just shook her head and said he was wrong. And the doctor was wrong, all right!
I’d love to have a surprise baby. I think it’s fun that you’re going to wait. My boys are composites of Superman and I (obviously) but don’t look a whole lot like either one of us, oddly. People are already saying this girl looks like me, so we’ll just have to see.
The only things that indicated girl and not boy for me were how high I was carrying her, heart rate, and cravings. All I wanted my first trimester was fruit and sugar, and I really didn’t eat a lot of meat.
As for not smacking you upside the head at the brunch, I had hoped I’d get to “meet and greet” you but just didn’t make it far enough down, then we got busy! Are you going to Kristina’s thing on the 20th? I might be there…..I’ll definitely be at Sue’s in April. We’ll chat then. :o)
Did I write this? hmmmm, creepy. I have two girls first and a boy, and now we’re having another boy. I didn’t really care either way, in fact whenever anyone says “OH how perfect, 2 girls and 2 boys!!” I feel kind of peeved, like I wouldn’t be happy for whatever we were having! By the way, this pregnancy is COMPLETELY different from my other boy’s, I LOVED mountain dew (yes, I’m going to hell) with the first, and can’t stand it with this pregnancy. Food cravings wise, body wise, all of it, totally different than the other boy. So don’t rule out a girl, really could go either way! π
WHAT —what the crapola. How did I miss this ??Your prego!!! and where was I when all this happened……….sure NOT in the bedroom (thank goodness) but where have I been. I thought I was a good blog follower of yours
and here you are Preg.Nant. and I didn’t even know
After 5 children, it was only at my fifth and FINAL child that I knew what I was having. We didn’t have all those ultra sound things that told you that. You knew when they popped out and screamed HELLO—I’m here.
so good on you for that (to quote my son who went to a mission in New Zealand and they always say “good on you”)
Yea for surprises. My three girls were all surprises. And by that I mean, “Wait, what? Are you sure that’s a girl?” (to which the docs all responded, “Um, yeah. I get paid to know the difference.”) But when I prayed the Boy here, I had to check. And I did, and he was (a he, that is). XO
The doctors can get it wrong anyway even all the tests they do these days. We have 3 children, 2 girls and then a boy. However, baby number was supposed to be a boy, it was written on my notes that i was expecting a boy weighing about 7 pounds. SHE weighed nearly nine ounds and was a huge surprise. You’ll be happy with whatever. I must admit toliking families to look tidy though, so 2 and then 2 would look tidy in my book.
IT LIES!!!!!! They all lie, those “prediction tests”!! You want proof? CHECK OUT WHAT CAME OUT OF MY UTERUS 3 TIMES! π
Sally girl, that just means you’re bipolar (i.e. backwards), doesn’t it? It’s all magnetic in the end.
