A girl!!
Seriously, it is so mean when your doctor tries to get fancy in the delivery room.Β Because let me tell you, after 40 weeks of pregnancy, a spinal block, and an open gaping wound, simple communication is best.
“It’s a G-word!”Β he said.
Sitting in front of a computer, this probably makes perfect sense toΒ you.Β But Jason and I looked at each other in total confusion until the anesthesiologist whispered, “It’s a girl!” Like Jason pointed out, at least he didn’t say, “It’s an F-word!”
She’s here, we got our girl. Georgia Tess, born Saturday, August 28th at 2:42 PM with the entire team present. 7 pounds, 5 ounces, 19.5 inches of perfection.
We were totally convinced going in that she would be a boy. Jason and I spent the hour before surgery going over potential boy names and ended up with the strangest list since Adam and Eve tried to think of a name for Cain. It looked something like this, in no particular order and with absolutely no verdict:
Harvey, Crosby, Rocky, Tom, Tom Tom, Tommy, Thompson, Tobias, George, Jake, Jason–I’ll just stop now.
Looking back, the whole name thing was probably the best example of a Stupor of Thought that we’ve ever experienced. Her name was so blasted easy, there was never a moment of hesitation or doubt with either of us. I tell you, some kids just name themselves.
And so, I’ve spent the last two days feeling like this is the best and longest Christmas morning ever. She’s beautiful and gentle and so, so sweet. We wish she’d wake up and open her eyes once in a while, but I have the feeling this leap is all just a little too much for her still.
She’s cried about three little times total, and her only flaw has been her inability to nurse without making me want to amputate a limb. Luckily, we realized today that she’s tongue tied enough that it’s not going to get better, so my pediatrician took care of it and we’re already on our way to fewer cracks and blisters. (Honestly, she’s totally worth it.)
The only down side is that I don’t have any photos of her that are good. Here’s a little something for you to check out, but just know that she’s feminine, perfect, and our little angel.
(She’s way cuter in real life.)
Congrats, Annie!!!
Congratulations! So glad it’s all over for you. Here’s to hoping that the whole nursing/limb amputation thing gets all worked out.
Congrats! She is a beauty! Go get yourself some of those gel nipple covers—better yet, ask for them from the lactation consultant and get them for free–saved me from a limb amputation. π
I’ve got them, good suggestion. Amazing.
I can’t wait to meet her! I just sent you an email. And seriously, she is one pretty baby. YOu know I don’t say that lightly.
congrats! love the name!
Happy Baby Day! She’s beautiful and so is her name – which is another “G-word”. Awesome π
Congratulations! I hope one day I’ll hear the doctor say I have a “G-word” too π
CONGRATULATIONS! She’s beautiful! And I love the name–it’s so close to my George’s name (arrange marriage down the road?). Hope to see that little bundle of yumminess soon!
YAAAY!! Congrats Annie, enjoy that perfection, it doesn’t last near long enough!! π
Congratulations, Annie. She looks perfectly sweet. And so does June.
So happy for you! You have the perfect combination of two in a row/two in a row. Now your kids each have a little friend! Enjoy that sweetness and here’s to a quick recovery! π
Wooo hooo wooo hoo, doing a dance, whooooo! I’m so excited that you had a girl!!!!! YAY! Seriously, I’m grinning and my husband thinks I’m a dweeb, but whatever, I’m really going to do a dance for you (in a very private, closed blinds, so no one can see me, because that could be socially scarring, kind of way).
Nothing suffices but !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats, im so happy for you
Those lips! They are truly perfection. π (And she’s even got some hair!)
P.S.
She also makes the deadline for school starting….you know, Sept. 1st. So you can either send her or wait a year if you want. Not that you are ready for her to start kindergarten yet but you will be, one day. Maybe.
Wonderful news. I love even numbers of children, it looks so tidy.
Congrats Annie!
Congrats! I am so glad the whole team made it for the delivery! She is beautiful! I believe your Chinese Gender chart was correct. If so many be it will be correct for us as well. But you gotta love the surprise! We are down to three weeks! (More or less–hope for less, expect more…)
Congratulation on the newest additon to your cute little family. Well, can one say little anymore? 4 kids, sheesh! That’s nie on to a kazillion! Let the good time roll!
Congrats Annie! So glad she is here safe and sound and that Jason was there for it all! LOVE the name Georgia… it was on my list of favorites, but since I already have a Jordan, I couldn’t make it fit. So we have Ivy instead. So glad to see the name used so beautifully by someone else!
It all worked out so well, didn’t it? After all the stress and turmoil, the Lord sent lots of tender mercies. I’m so glad. Bless you all! Enjoy her. And enjoy the new freedom. I’ve only known you since you were pregnant, so I’m curious to see the new you π
She’s beautiful! Congratulations!!!
YAY! Congratulations Annie – she is just darling. Hope you’re feeling good and getting some sleep. XOXO
Congrats! I had been guessing a boy, but thank heavens that bullet was avoided. Tom Tom? Remind me to pick out names before I go into labor… π
Glad you have her here finally.
Congrats on your little girl! I’m expecting my third in a few weeks so I’ve been anxiously awaiting your news! So glad your hubby made it home in time. We are convinced our baby is a boy too and also have no clear idea of what to name the child so maybe we’ll end up with a girl too! Enjoy that cute little bundle!
I love the name Georgia Tess. That’s so cute! Congratulations Annie, she is beautiful. It sounds like everything went great and that’s always nice to hear. Funny that you were sure she was a boy. π
She’s so beautiful! A little sister! 2 boys and 2 girls that can’t even be more perfect!! Take good care of yourself and that cutie patootie
Awwww Annie……
Heavenly Father has ways of making it all play out the way He needs it to. Jason was there and I hope you felt the peace and comfort you needed. Be sure to rest when the baby does… your body needs TONS of time to heal. The 4th for me took a LOT out of me….
Hugs and Prayers!!!
Tina

She is beautiful! Congratulations!
WHOA finally a picture of the bundle of joy and the angel. She is so cute I am happy she and mommy are doing good and both getting lots of attention from Daddy. Congratulations Annie.
Ha ha, everyone, I got a text first thing!! And can I just say, the Fates knew what they were doing when they sent you a child you couldn’t name Harvey. Honestly, Annie, whatever were you thinking?
She’s beautiful. And I’m not just saying that.
I loved every minute with my fourth. I knew he would be my last, and I just savored and savored. I didn’t mind getting up in the night, I didn’t hurry back to my calling or my piano students or my PTA stuff, I didn’t apologize for napping with my baby and ordering pizza for dinner six straight nights in a row. I just did with him what I wished I had done with all of the others – told the rest of the universe I was booked, indefinitely.
Congrats! As you know, the name is beautiful! can’t wait for more pics π
when I had my first daughter he said “it’s a girl” I was totally out of it (c-section) and so a little later after the dr had left the nurse turned to me and said “congratulations on your little boy” I almost started crying. They had to call down to the NICU to find out if it was a girl or boy. For my next baby I said, please announce what it is loud and clear. The baby started screaming even before the dr had her all the way out. He said, we’ll obviously it’s a girl because she can’t keep her mouth shut. Oh, I love my dr. π
Congrats on your newest addition!!
WOW!!! You called it how years ago and you were right!!!!!!!!!! So precious… I’m so proud of you and your sweet little babies. She is darling!
Awww! She’s beautiful. Just like her mom. Congratulations! And I love, love, love her name.

Yay! Yay! Yay! Love this. Congrats, Annie. She’s beautiful.

What a beauty! Congratulations
It has been forever since I’ve been in the blogging world, and I thought this evening, it’s been a while since you’ve read some Annie. Congratulations!!!! She’s beautiful.
Beautiful baby. You are blessed, so blessed.
I was certain one of our kids (child #1) was going to be a boy, too. Until after I pushed her out (in my bathroom) and held her in my arms on the toilet (very NOT glamorous, but I was higher than a kite on mama hormones and the post-birthing buzz).
A Girl. I was shocked beyond shocked. And grateful as in my heart of hearts, I really wanted a girl.
PS: Love her name. So drool worthy perfect/gorgeous. (Baby names do crazy things to me, like make me want to have more kids or something. Gah!! π
congratulations! i’m thrilled you had a girl, what a perfect family you have! love her name…hope you get lots of rest, and much love!!!
Congratulations!
Love her name π
Not that I should ever admit this as a friend, but I had no idea you were pregnant. That is how long it has been since I have checked in on you. Congratulations! She is beautiful and looks like the rest of the clan. Good luck with the next few weeks.
Love you.
